Scared to live our lives, by S.M. Bjarnson

A Heads up I wrote this in High school.

Dear Fellow Peers & Colleagues

What makes us fear growing up? What makes us not exceed our maximum potential? Is it that we feel threatened or inferior of other achievements? Or maybe it’s the fact that one day soon we will have to stop holding onto the past. That we won’t be able to hide from our future and it’s events. Whether your future occupation is a local gardener or a famous motor cross rider, you will be great at it because you were born to do it.
In high school we put up safety barriers around ourselves, because of the intimidation of having to be something more than an average high school student. For most high school seniors we have already had this realization come to us. So, now we are facing the coming winds, head on with a fearful heart and a courageous mind, both characteristics that we all should learn how to master.
As our cards are laid out in front of us it’s our choice to pick and play or fold and fail. It’s our choice to press forward to excellence or stay another regular human being. A quote that hangs above my window makes this statement, “Life is what we make it. Always has been. Always will be.”  With that phrase I strive to face every new day with a hopeful heart and optimistic mind, to be a new me and make a better world for myself and for others. This is your life fellow student body, it is your choose to live and take charge, leaving fears and nervousness in the dusty tracks behind you. It’s your choice; it is your life, no one else’s.
Fulfill your own destiny, chase after your own personal passions and have them become a true reality to your life, discover once and for all dreams can come true. Believe in yourself and find the personal strength that is screaming to be unleashed from within you, let it out and be freely you. Maybe than we won’t be in fear of growing up and becoming adults in the world’s society.
Take chances and stop thinking. Quit wondering to yourself what if, stop caring what the person next to you thinks, they don’t think and honestly I doubt they care. Do something, because you want to, because you feel the need to shout it out to the world, be proud of the accomplishments of being influential in a spontaneous way. You wait around your whole life waiting for something amazing to happen to you, but than nothing happens and you get discouraged with life. Let me make this clear, nothing is going to happen unless you make it happen.
Be happy and comfortable with who you are today, walk with confidence and hold your head high. Because, after high school no one will stress with statuses, even if you dominated the top of the pointed pyramid or that you slummed to the crumbling bottoms. No one will care, because it doesn't matter, it never did. Figure it out for yourselves; you’ll know it’s true as well.

Be smart and be courageous, stand out above the normality of each other’s lives. Be you and be free.

Running as Father-S.M. Bjarnson

Running as Father
He calms his breathing as he slows to a stop; watching the world run by him, in his green sea water swimming shorts. His hair has aged to gray and blackish, he tries to keep strong in such a hating world. He moves and moves and steps further and further, running and jogging farther away from the abyss. Searching for comfort and help with raising teenagers who seem to despise him. They intended no harm or hurt.
Suit and a tie is what he lived in for days and years as a grown up, trying to make an impact in society. As he ran past a merry-go-round he found himself having a flashback, of when the teens were little and innocently loving; he smiled at the memory. Passing stores and houses in a small town where he had grown up and where he had raised his own five dollar family.  He was quaint and a little man sturdy and strong-minded. He was selfless in others eyes, he waved and they waved as he swept on by down the road. While he rushed through abandoned streets and alley ways, he began to wonder his purpose among others and himself.
Stopping to breathe in the fresh night air, agitated he took a slow walk around a red brick house. He stops and stares across at the snowed on pine trees and faded yellow garage door. So many memories, so many happy and sad times, all seemed to flow out at him all at once. A prideful tear drops onto his white bland shirt, he whips it away as he drops to his knees, frustrated wondering where he had gone wrong with them all. Exhausted and hopeful he gained courage and rose from his brandished kneeling, he sprinted giving way to lost and useless questions that were unimportant to a day.

What is calling to you...? -S.M. Bjarnson

Stars splashed against the night sky.
The watercolor wishes brushed gently upon what we thought as our reality.
Terms and conditions of where they would end up, that they not be lost forever, but maybe a farewell for a short time.
We have reconciliation with those who have passed. T
hose in line next to us who have the ok to go ahead and explore the unknown universe.
We are jealous, but why? We will get our chance when the timing is sincere.
When the envelope opens and our name is printed on it. We will be golden we tell ourselves. Perfect for the job.
Adventurer in the soul and body, a survivor in the min
d.  We are born and yet we die. We are happy and yet we endure sadness.
Cherry tips and velvet lips, we are all a part of the board game we play.
Wouldn’t you agree? If I was but 3 and you art 5, then in time you would presume to be called first in our line. I’m sorry to say only the young croak alone.
Secret whispers upon the second.
My name is called and yet I am unready. I have practiced and played my part a bystander if ever relevant and now here I am they are calling my name and I will secure the line.
We are tormented by the time we have thought up.
We are heartbroken in the moments we consider a life. Don’t forget the trembling of toes, never let up on the quivering of the tip of your nose.
We are all consigned one day to be more than a commoner.
Delved into our perspectives of life and leisure, our entrance into adulthood was nothing other than a welcome mat, worn from usage, tired from belonging.
Turns out not all heroes are born. Their delivered. As if to say we can choose our path rather than our journey decides for us. I am a child, a woman living amongst the adolescence of man. For all we know we our destined road is that of unfortunate experiences.
What is calling you?
